There was a bad fire here at my apartments over a year ago. A young man and his dog died when a neighbor's cooking fire started a conflagration. Eight units were destroyed and four more seriously damaged.

The construction on all the units is nearly complete. They will, by building code, have sprinklers in them. These older low rise buildings are not required by code to have sprinklers, so management decided to install these little suppression canisters.

An appropriate fire extinguisher would also be a good idea, especially if you have gas or propane fuel stove.
