Thanks for the first hand heads up about the universal retreat of Iceland glaciers. Is the coast line moving off shore or on shore? I have read that areas of Greenland that have been under ice are becoming ice free again and are exposing Viking settlements from the Medieval warm period. This shows that warmer periods have happened before and people prospered only to be frozen out again. The whole of the Greenland ice sheet did not melt then nor is it likely to melt in the near future. Imagine suntans on Iceland beaches! --pragnos
