NOW THERE IS TALK OF ABBOTT NEEDING TO STEP DOWN AS PRIME MINISTER! (STA BREAKING NEWS and ARCHIVES)

by pravdaseeker @, Saturday, January 31, 2015, 20:37 @ CliffMickelson

Dear STA Readers, Writers,

WOW, little I realise the full ramifications of Queensland election yesterday.

As of Sunday AM here in Oz, there is talk and rumblings of Prime Minister Tony Abbott needing to step down as our leader down under.

WOW, heavy stuff folks.

It isn't over til the lady with the horned helmet sings and the curtain closes.

The live election site still only shows 70+ % of the polls counted, and there are a couple of seats still neck and neck.

Labor is 2 seats away from the needed 45 seats to claim the government position. Liberals are at 39 seats.

The rout of the Liberal National Party in the Queensland election is being described as "catastrophic" by federal Coalition MPs, with some claiming the Prime Minister is now terminally wounded.

"All we are talking about now is the timing and method of execution," one Queensland MP said.

"This is catastrophic, unimaginable," said another.

Labor looks set to pull off a stunning victory in a cliffhanger election, after securing a double-digit swing that has ended the political career of Premier Campbell Newman.

Labor is on track to claim 45 or 46 of the 89 seats in the state's parliament, after going into the poll holding only nine seats.

"My political career is over," Mr Newman told LNP supporters as he conceded defeat in his seat.

A senior federal Coalition source said the next move was Tony Abbott's.

"So far the chatter has been among privates and corporals," he said.

"It's a time for generals now. And a time for the general: Tony Abbott. He has to decide what's in the best interest of the party."

This morning, Attorney-General George Brandis told Sky News the federal cabinet remained united behind Tony Abbott.

"At the moment and this will be the case, the cabinet is determinedly unitedly and strongly behind the Prime Minister," he said.

But on election night the ABC spoke to Coalition MPs and senators across the country, as all watched the most remarkable turnaround in Australian electoral history with growing disbelief and horror."

Even if Mr Abbott steps down, who would replace him? One of the top contenders would be Julie Bishop, who reminds me of Hillary on crack, with rabid anger in her heart. I know Bishop is just trying to do her job, but my God, she is a scary lady to me.

Amazing history being made here in Oz. Something they will talk about for years and years in political circles down under.

Let us hope and pray that somehow a more peaceful world emerges from it all, and jobs, and the Barrier Reef, and other wildlife refuge areas are at least a bit more secure for Australians.
