If we remember last February the world was watching the close pass of another big rock when something, a companion in its cluster, exploded over Chelyabinsk Russia. It injured 1100 and blew out just about every window in the city. No one ever saw it coming, which leaves some doubts about the abilities of our Near-Earth Object Surveillance Satellite system.

We can only hope that if there is a repeat of that event, it will take place over DC, Tel Aviv or Kiev. You know, the folks who could really use a good cosmic wake up call.
