I have to agree with ol Gorby... the timeframe he talks about was a moment when the world DID seem to sigh a sigh of relief, of hope, that maybe; just maybe the world did not have to go through its very destructive cycles.

I admit that even my heart was buoyant, and thinking; "OH wonderful! The two most powerful nations on Earth are friends again. And if it was properly nurtured the two could become a force for world peace. Powerful enough, to make sure it stays at peace.

I even visited Russia, and went to many of its landmarks in Moscow, that is how hopeful I was. I found it to be an amazingly beautiful country, and so huge, water everywhere, rivers everywhere. A fisherman's delight, and heaven.

The history of the country goes back much further than a "young" USA, and the museums were a wonder to walk through. From ancient hand written Bibles, to gilded czars armour, to a vast array of art, and architecture that boggled the mind; with doing it all in such a inhospitable climate. It snowed on me there in September. And rained all but a couple of days. How did they achieve so much with such nasty climate?

Then I started to see things I did not want to see happening.

The USA started acting like a "bully" for lack of better words. Russia got treated like a red headed stepchild.

The Psychopathic, and sociopathic elements of western society moved in; and for some time gave a very bad image to the common Russian of the "west". Of course this was only a snapshot of the west, similar to the carpetbaggers after the US civil war I presume?

After the Civil War Lincoln wanted ALL to be forgiven, and continue on as if ALMOST NOTHING had happened. If he had not been assassinated, the term carpetbagger would not have existed in my opinion.

It was a similar situation with Russia after the WALL came down. GREED, and the LUST for profit, and riches; stripping a country of its wealth, and picking up large companies for pennies on the dollar came into being.

The USA promised Russia that NATO would NOT expand, nor encircle Russia. A boat load of lies were spewed out by the corrupt and greedy leaders of the USA at the time.

Over the years Russia has seen very few of American promises come true. Kind of like all of those "INDIAN TREATIES" from the old west days; they were lies upon lies in some cases.

Now you see Russia encircled, NATO has expanded enormously, and weapons and missiles are right across its borders. NO WONDER they do not trust the USA anymore. The USA took a PERFECT opportunity for true world peace and turned it into pure shitstorm, and now we are ready for another world war.

ALL because of greed, the desire for great riches, and a position of power, and for a short time; the USA WAS the big single world power. And they decided to try and make the New World Order come true, a la Orwellian style.

The Bretton Woods agreement for US Dollar domination, and then later the PETRO DOLLAR deals with OPEC; have created much animosity among many nations. These deals were done by a minute handful of corrupt people. Yet, is this NOT how nearly ALL conflicts come about?

The Soviet Union CRASHED economically, and has recovered. Now it seems the USA and its good buddies are on the cusp of suffering the same fate; due to unending wars and stirring up shit everywhere. The "west" started currency wars, and colour revolutions to preserve a cancer ridden corrupt banking system in play. No fixing it up to be fair and just, JUST profits coming in for the elites. The victors of the last world war.But I am quite concerned the psychopaths who run the "west"; will want to go out with a bang. A BIG WAR.

Why does the silly folly of pride, or "saving face" have to come into politics so often? Why can't a country say "Damn, we did that wrong, please forgive us, let us try to make it right!" Is it SO necessary to have a war, or some similar disaster just to avoid admitting it was wrong thing to do? Or a wrong policy move to make in the past?

I am NOT a world traveller, but have been blessed with being able to visit quite a few out of the way places; places where most Americans do not go on vacation to. And every single place I visited the people were NO DIFFERENT than you or I, except for a different language, or culture. The SAME family values were there. Love of the children, grandchildren, PEACE, no desire to OWN what their neighbour had. NO desire to go blow up someone, or some country. JUST live in peace and have a civil society. And yes, they want a visitor to their lands to obey their laws and customs, and rightly so. NO NEED to be the UGLY AMERICAN, and start spouting off when things don't go your way; like waiting in a line for too long, or the prices weren't low enough for you, or that the waiter took too long on wait on you, etc.

When I was in Russia, I was welcomed into strangers homes. Even rescued one day from a gang of drunk Russians who wished to rob me by a complete total stranger, and a lady at that! I was told that the reason they liked me, and allowed me so many secret pleasures was because I was NOT the typical ugly American!

Now that made me happy, and yet very sad at the same time. Whenever I visit another land, I try to be an ambassador, to show what good Americans are like, and follow their rules and customs, etc. It will get you much further than SPOUTING OFF I AM AN AMERICAN CITIZEN, I GOT MY RIGHTS!! I WILL CALL MY EMBASSY!! Flashing greenbacks like you own the place, etc etc.

Gorby is right, A GREAT NEED for a period of openness and HONESTY, and working TOGETHER for peaceful resolutions to world problems is on our door step.

The one issue that prevents it all from really happening are the nut bag evil people who run the world these days. The 1% elite greedy scum balls. The sociopathic types who aspire to own everything, and possess inordinate power over all others for their egos sake.

This is what prevents the truth of Gorby's words from happening, and will unless checked by a higher power, it will also lead to another mass culling of humanity, and perhaps all life on Earth.
