The Hindus revering animal life? Tell it to the chicks burnt in the kitchen fires. It's the Jains that revere life. The Cathars did, too. (Too bad the Cathars didn't make a huge comeback. The world would have a lot fewer problems.) And the Sikhs try to promote humanity toward animals. When they are killed for food, ideally the animal is offed the jatka way. Ideally, on paper. What is eaten in actual life is another story. Chop the head off in one swoop.

Real life, the Sikh owned restaurant down the street serves Halal meat, and they're not supposed to eat ritually slaughtered animals. I'd rather eat a Jatka chicken than a Halal chicken myself, but hey. Where do you get them, unless you kill them yourself, and I'd rather not? I'm also on my 4th month of no meat whatsoever, though I'm open to the chicken served at above mentioned restaurant if we can ever afford to eat out again. It's the only place I think I'll eat chicken again. I gave up fish close to a half a year ago, though I still buy it for the cats.
