INFLANATION, ARTHRITUS & DEPRESSION MAY BE LINKED (STA BREAKING NEWS and ARCHIVES)

by chazzz @, USA, Thursday, October 23, 2014, 20:39 @ chazzz

I have had episodes of depression since I was a teenager, but I learned to deal with that. In my mid-thirties I began to have Arthritus in my major joints. By my 50's the Arthritus had progressed to the point that a major Arthritus flare-up would also push me into a serious depression. I was told that my Arthritus was degenerative (wear-out) in the joints and after repeated tests was told it was not rheumatoid or Lupus (I have a niece with Lupus). However, the occasional flare ups persisted - Even after replacing both knees and both hips!

I had a good rheumatologist back in CA (and a very good GP). Now I have to make do with doctors who listen too much to the drug company reps and not enough to their patients. Anyway, my CA rheumatologist said my depression that came on with my Arthritus flare ups was situational due to the pain.

Just recently I noticed a medical study that showed that taking NSAIDs (the most effective medications prescribed for arthritus) also reduced depression. This seems to reinforce to me the link between Arthritus and depression. God only knows which one triggers the other at times or if they actually have a common cause. But it is interesting and very useful that there are medications and supplements that are known to help both. In the supplements these are SAM-e and colloidal gold.

By the way my current rheumatologist, when I told him that colloidal gold helped me remarked that gold salt compounds were one of the first effective treatments for rheumatoid Arthritus. He wanted me to drop the colloidal gold and he would experiment on me with other prescription medications for rheumatoid Arthritus. You can guess my response to that. I said no thanks!
