2FIRED FOR LOOKING AT EBOLA PATIENT'S RECORDS (STA BREAKING NEWS and ARCHIVES)
Hmmmmm, maybe they were suspicious of something going on. So far I have not seen any names mentioned as to who was fired. I'd like to hear their side of the story.
2 employees fired for looking at Ebola patient's records, Nebraska Medical Center says
OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) - The Nebraska Medical Center has fired two employees they say inappropriately accessed Ebola patient Dr. Rick Sacra’s medical records.
“This is a violation of HIPAA regulations, and an issue we take very seriously,” the hospital said in a statement Friday, adding that other unspecified corrective action was also taken.
HIPAA, which stands for Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, is a federal law that protects the privacy of certain health information.
Sacra was informed of the violation before he left to return home to Massachusetts Thursday.
The hospital says such violations are extremely uncommon, but they have a zero tolerance policy.
Sacra, who contracted Ebola while working in West Africa, arrived at the Nebraska Medical Center on Friday, Sept. 5.
He was declared Ebola-free Thursday, thanking his doctors and others for his recovery.
