Enormous credit to him & his remarkable team for giving it absolutely everything, to the degree that not only were our Pro-Union community given a serious run for their money, but sufficient shock waves have been sent reverberating around the entire UK for fundamental political change for all people! ________________________________________________________________________________

Alex Salmond announces his resignation

Alex Salmond is stepping down as Scotland's First Minister and SNP leader after his country voted against independence.

He said it was the "privilege of my life to serve as first minister".

He added: "We lost the referendum vote but Scotland can still carry the political initiative.

"Scotland can still emerge as the real winner. My time is nearly over."
