to understand why it is not possible to build space rocket anymore. It is long article and is not easy to resume, but I'll mention few key info:
No more german rocket engineers on US soil, the old NASA staff already retired, the new are overconfident without needed knowledge (of old), few american generations are totally dull (torpor) and can't cope without fresh blood from Europe and/or abroad.

“All chemical companies who managed and all government chemical engineers who directed programs for the production of nuclear materials and components have left the US government.

It has lost the ability to produce most nuclear materials and components for weapons and assess the ability of other nations to do so.” ( This also includes NASA, JPL, Sandia, Los Alamos etc.)

Why? How could this be? Did all of those very fine WW2 era German scientists that gave the world all of this technology just simply say screw it after the US revoked their citizenship at the end of Apollo program for being bad Germans during WW2?
