WHO WON WWll?

A good question - just one tiny example is the fate of one General Heinrich Mueller the former head of the GESTAPO. The name is an acronym for Geheime Staats Polizei or Secret State Police and Mueller was arguably the most successful secret policeman on any side in the War with most of his focus to the East - in Moscow. BTW, the German forces even after D-Day, never had more than 20% of their armed forces in the western theatre so most of their war effort was in this direction.
Mueller was eventually found in Switzerland in 1948 and no way the Swiss were going to give him up - just as well as the US had no intention of arresting him as he possessed something they did not, namely information about the Soviets. He'd fought them since 1935 and was easily the most important oracle about their methods, leadership and so on. No, arrest him they did not, but rather recruited him and he came to the US using his Swiss name and passport plus he bought with him at least 350 of his most senior officers. Their task was to build a surveillance network along the lines he'd constructed in Germany over 10 years.
I think we can see the success of his work during the 50's and 60's in every page of US post war history.
This is just one example - Werner Von Braun is another - and no doubt the list goes on and on.....
Read Gestapo Chief by Gregory Douglas, its a real eye opener.
