Yes, like food grade mineral oil or Vaseline in a pinch. If needed, the eggs need washed first, then they definitely need coated with a safe oil/grease. No used motor oil--although, I suppose margarine would work since it is plasticized oil. Over a decade ago, I bought a special egg sealing emollient out of Australia that had more of a wax base that was meant for really long term storage. It is conceivable that one could do a quick dunk & quick cool in melted wax for deep storage.
