We've just had two volcanic eruptions here. Tongariro in the middle of
the North Island, about 4 hours drive south, and White Island which is
100 miles north of Tongariro on the same fault line. Ash fall from
Tongariro is about 100 km's east over Gisbourne and Napier according to
initial reports. The White Island eruption is smaller but no less
significant in that it indicates there is an entire active fault line.
There are no reports of damage or casualties.
