FIRST-EVER AMAZON TORNADO

by Basilisk, Monday, September 24, 2007, 19:16

At about 5 AM today a tornado touched down in Ji-Paraná, the second largest city in the State of Rondonia, in the Brazilian Amazon region.

Until very recently (1o years, give or take), tornados were unheard of in Brazil. Now, while still rare they, are occasionally seen, but mostly in the State of São Paulo, and never (until today) further North than that.
